Dentures Q&A
What are dentures?
Dentures are prosthetic replacement teeth that you wear when you have multiple missing teeth. With several types of dentures to choose from, these restorations can replace some or all of your teeth.
At Four Corners Dental and Dentures, Dr. Moore and the team offer same-day dentures to fully restore your smile in a single visit. They also provide onsite repairs and relines for those who need it.
What are the different types of dentures?
Many types of dentures are available to improve your smile and dental health, but the most common are:
Complete (full) dentures
Also called conventional dentures, complete dentures replace all the teeth in your mouth. These custom-made replacement teeth attach to a pink-colored base that closely resembles your natural gums. Complete dentures also cover the roof of your mouth for a secure fit that allows you to chew and speak with ease.
Partial dentures
Partial dentures only replace some of your teeth. While they attach to acrylic gums, like complete dentures, partial dentures don’t include a base that fits under the roof of your mouth. Instead, these dentures use metal or tooth-colored wiring that wraps around your surrounding healthy teeth for support.
Implant-supported dentures
Implant-support dentures connect to dental implants. These small titanium posts replace your natural tooth roots to stabilize your dentures. By connecting to implants, your dentures can’t shift out of place. Most people find that implant-supported dentures most closely align with the look and feel of their natural teeth.
